Once Upon A Time In Amerykah

03/30/2010

Jump up in the air. Make sure you stay there.

p.s. The newest leak? Not a Junior Mafia redo. It's actually this:

Do. Your. Homework.

Tical + Starks + Chef = Massacre

Next Tuesday is gonna be a crime scene. Bella (Badu, not the Twilight broad) AND Wu-Massacre drop?!? Oh. My. Stars. Call the ambulance. I've been listening to "New Wu" (OB4CL2) on repeat, just to get myself ready for this.

The first visual from the Method Man, Ghostface and Raekwon "Wu-Massacre" project. Many heads said that it wouldn't happen. Others thought it was long overdue. Whatever the case, it's happening. Make sure you support. Cop an actual CD. 3 Limited edition collector's covers, drawn by X-Men comic book artist Chris Bachalo (see below).

p.s. Hey Def Jam, don't drop the ball on this one.....too.

The Chain & The Star

Where do I begin? These two guys have made their share of classics. I've been down with the "chain and the star" for a long time---I'm talking Junior High Ziti. I've had the Step In The Arena CASSETTE pop on me, at least 3 or 4 times. I knew the words to "DWYCK" before the video (B-Side to "Take It Personal").

In 2010? Still one of favorites...hands down. But I don't know what's going on with Guru. Some reports still have him in a coma. Others say he made a recovery and that he's on the upswing. Who knows?

I know there was some tension between Guru and Preme, but Preme ("the DJ I respect") deaded all of that on his radio show. Salute.

I hope that whatever is going on healthwise/family/musically can be resolved. I pray that Guru is back in the best of health...soon.

Life is short. There is still good music to be made.

p.s. Suckas still play themselves for mass appeal.

It's All Wet

Ten years (or so) ago, I probably would've have watched this video and been upset.

"This is a mockery of Hip-Hop."

"This is the bastardization of the culture."

"I can't believe they have the stones to put this on TV."

But that would've been 10 years (or so) ago.

Now? I find this type of sh*t hilarious. Why? Well, why shouldn't I? It closely mirrors the bullsh*t that's on the radio nowadays. In some regards, it's actually--dare I say--better.

Who would've thought that a paper towel company could nail the modern Hip-Hop experience (on top of being more entertaining than most radio pickings) in a 2 minute youtube video.

C'mon. Stop with all the elitism. You know this sh*t is funny.

Shamrocks & Shenanigans

For my Irish brethren, on St. Pat's day.

Salute.

p.s. Battle me? That's a sin.

Class. In. Session.

It kinda goes without saying...I thought.
